Peru is a captivating place located in Western South America. This place has a historic background that dates back to the Incas. Peru is the third largest country in South America and shares its borders with many other countries like Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, and Chile. Peru is home to one of the most famous rivers, the Amazon river and many others. The GDP per capita for Peru is $12,500. The population for Peru is 31,914,989 ranked 46th in the world for biggest population out of all countries. Peru’s land area is 496,225 square miles which is slightly smaller than Alaska in comparison. The view and scenery also make Peru a tourist hotspot and a famous place to tour. Because of this, Peru is highly regarded as one of the most beautiful places to visit.

The Legacy of Peru
Peru has a remarkably complex history that dates back to the Incas and the Spanish colonies in the 1500s. In this day in age, Peru is one of the most visited countries in the world. In the 1400s, the Incas were one of the biggest civilizations in South America. At its peak the Inca conquered modern day Ecuador, Peru, and parts of Bolivia, Argentina, Chile, and a bit of Colombia. However, the Incas would only last for about 100 years from 1438-1533. The Incas would later on fall due to many illnesses particularly smallpox and war brought by the Spanish. The Inca were taken down in war by the Spanish led by Francisco Pizarro. Although the Incas had more men, Francisco Pizarro took advantage of the civil war which severely weakened the Incas. A few years later Francisco Pizzaro would later on be assassinated by Spanish rivals. The land that the Inca tribe once ruled would be later known as Peru. Peru gained its independence by José de San Martin, who was a military general and rose up in the ranks to lead many revolutions. Prior to the gaining of independence, Peru had been controlled by the Spanish, San Martin disliked that he wanted to help Peru gain freedom and independence. San Martin assembled an army and led the Peruvian War of independence. San Martin gained a lot of accolades and prizes for his actions. Decades after Peru gained independence, Machu Picchu was discovered by an American historian and tourist from Yale university named Hiram Bingham. Now, Machu Picchu is one of the most visited places for tourists in the world. As a result, Peru has been one of the most visited countries in the world. Because of this, Peru has a diverse community with many ethnicities having Mestizo and a quarter of Incan descendance 25.8%. Peru is also home to the largest Chinese immigrant community in South America. This influenced and shaped the culture of Peru now and how the people live their life. For example, many Peruvians speak Quechua which is one of the most spoken and significant languages for Peru. All in all, Peru’s Incan legacy and history is still here today.
